Atlas Activation

The KCARC, did a special event activation at the Oplin, TX Atlas Missle Silo location about 30 miles SE of Abilene. We set up 2 HAM stations with several antennas and had a Wonderful time! Our host/owner Bruce was OutStanding, giving tours of his home in the crew living quarters and showing us the life size inflatable missle inside. From our location, we made contacts in Canada, New York, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Arkansas along with several others I can’t remember. We were cut a Little short today due to weather coming in but still had a Very successful activation!

We’re Definitely going to activate this site again but it’s tough when you have to submit your dates 6-8 weeks in advance with ARRL to get published in the magazine, but weather around here is Always a crapshoot when trying to schedule Anything! I’ll post a few pics and update as I get more pis in.
